The Songbird Hospital is supported entirely by donations and an all volunteer staff. We do not receive any form of funding from the county or other government agencies. Generous donations from the public provide much needed funds to purchase mealworms, crickets and other essential food items; veterinary services, medicine and medical supplies; paper towels, bleach and other necessary materials for day-to-day operations. Following are some examples of the costs associated with providing medical and supportive care to our patients.

A nest of four baby Black Phoebes: $35 per week
The average length of stay for a baby phoebe until release back to the wild is 4-5 weeks.
An adult American Robin that was caught by a cat: $15 per week, plus $40 for medication.
